Brothers in court over airline 'bomb plot'

Two brothers have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged plot to blow up transatlantic airliners.

Umair Hussain, 24, and his 23-year-old brother Mehran both appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday - Mehran in person and Umair via video-link from Belmarsh prison.

Both have been charged with failing to disclose information about their brother Nabeel, another suspect in the investigation.

He is one of eleven men charged with conspiracy to murder and preparing an act of terrorism in connection with the alleged plot.

Both cases have been put back to October 12 for an expected committal hearing.

A third suspect, mother-of-one Cossor Ali, 24, is also accused of failing to disclose information about other suspects involved in the alleged plot.

Her case has been put back until September 29.

A fourth person, a 17-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons, also appeared in court via video-link, charged with two unrelated terrorism charges.

It is alleged that the teenager was in possession of a manual containing details of improvised explosive devices, as well as a number of suicide wills from people prepared to commit terrorist acts.
