Man sectioned after daughter is injured

A businessman has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after his two-year-old daughter was found suffering from life threatening head injuries.

Alberto Izaga, 36, an executive with insurance company Swiss Re, was arrested on Sunday morning.

Police had been called to his apartment on Albert Embankment, near the Houses of Parliament, on Sunday morning, following reports from neighbours who said that they had heard screaming and shouting.

The child was found suffering from head injuries and is now being treated in hospital, where her condition is described as critical.

Mr Izaga is the head of Swiss Re's Life and Health Products and was elected to the board of the Association of British Insurers last year.
