British Pensioner Murdered In Spain
A British pensioner has been murdered in her home in Spain.
Janette May Grocutt, 74, was stabbed to death at her home in the village of Paredon, near Alicante, on Friday.
It is believed that she was trying to fight off thieves when she was killed.
Mrs Grocutt's husband, Douglas, was upstairs when the attack took place. Mr Grocutt, who is bedridden, is reported to have heard the attack, but was unable to help his wife.
He was not injured, but has been taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
The couple, who run a campsite, are believed to have moved to Spain from Cornwall about six years ago.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said that next of kin had been informed.

Jorge Real Sierra, 56, and his brother-in-law Juan Antonio Velazquez, 40, were found guilty of the murder of Anthony and Linda O'Malley, from Llangollen, north Wales, at a court in Alicante, Spain.
