Man Shot Dead In Liverpool
A man has been shot dead in a street in Merseyside.
The shooting happened around 8pm on Tuesday night, near the Millhouse pub on Alderwood Avenue in Speke.
Police found the victim, who is believed to be a man in his 40s, when they were called to the scene.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem is due to take place later.
Police have said that they believe the victim may have been targeted and they have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Most shops in the area were closed at the time of the shooting, but a newsagent and a gym were still open and police said that people in either premises might have seen something.
House to house enquiries are being conducted in the area and community patrols have been increased.

Retired Police Inspector And Girlfriend Found Shot Dead
The bodies of a retired police inspector and his girlfriend have been found with gunshot wounds in Devizes. Bill Dowling, a retired police inspector with 30 years' service, and the woman who is yet to be named, where found at Moonrakers estate at around 11:00am on Saturday.

Police officers in London have shot dead a man during an operation in west London, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed. The 52-year-old man, who has not yet been formally identified, was fatally wounded during the incident in Hangar Green in Ealing on Tuesday night.

A man has been shot dead by police officers in north London. The 43-year-old victim was killed at an address at Picardy House, Cedar Road, Enfield on 30 August. Officers were alerted at 9:35pm of a man at an address in Barnet making threats to kill and in possession of what was believed to be a firearm.

Man Who Threatened Woman With A Knife Shot Dead By Police
A man, who broke into a house in London and threatened a woman with a knife, has been shot dead by police. Officers attended an incident at a property in Islington at around 11pm on Thursday. It is believed that the man and woman knew each other. The woman was not harmed, however she is being treated for shock, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Man 'With Crossbow' Shot Dead By Police
A man has been shot dead by armed police after apparently firing a crossbow from a window of a property in County Durham. Officers arrived to the house in Cheapside, Shildon, following a series of 999 calls. The victim fired the weapon before police opened fire, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said.
