Loyalist Applies For Legal Aid To Challenge Parade Ruling
A north Belfast loyalist has been refused legal aid funding to challenge a Parades Commission ruling on one of tomorrow's Twelfth of July parade.
The person's identity has not been revealed at this stage, but it is believed that he or she is not a member of any parades organisation.
The individual is expected to appeal the decision and attempt to take the Parades Comission's decision to the High Court.
Protests have been held in north Belfast over a ruling that tomorrow's parade must clear the Ardoyne shops - a flashpoint for violence in the past - by 4pm.
The Orange Order and its supporters have said it will be impossible for members of three lodges in north Belfast to make it to the celebration field, rest, and come back in that time.
And First Minister Peter Robinson has dubbed the Parades Commission's ruling "bizarre".
The legal challenge is supported by the Orange Order and by the North and West Belfast Parades Forum.
