Man Assaulted In Racially Motivated Hate Crime

Police are appealing for information after a racially motivated assault in north Belfast.

Two unknown males set upon the victim, a man in his 30's, in the Ligoniel Road area on Sunday morning, 03 March.

The man received cuts to his head and above his eye, before the culprits made off towards the Crumlin Road area.

He was hospitalised for treatment to his injuries, and police have launched an investigation into what they believe was a racially motivated hate crime.

Sergeant Tierney said: "The males are described as being 5'8" in height, shaved heads and wearing dark jackets and jeans.

"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which may assist with our enquiries to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 500 3/3/19."
