Knife Wielding Man Robs Co Down Off-Licence

A woman working in a Co Down off-licence has been left badly shaken after a masked knife-wielding man robbed the premises.

The business in the Movilla Street area of Newtownards was targeted shortly before 8pm on Tuesday evening, 14 January.

Police said the suspect entered the off-licence armed with a knife and demanded money from a female member of staff before making off towards the town centre with a sum of cash.

The woman was not injured but has been left badly shaken.

The suspect is described as being between 5'8" and 5'10" in height and of slim build. He wore a dark coloured hooded top, a balaclava and black gloves.

Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1632 of 14/01/20. Details can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

An elderly woman has been left badly shaken after burglars broke into her flat in Newtownabbey. The incident occurred in Glenvarna Walk in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Two masked men entered the property by breaking glass in the door just after midnight. The two men made off as soon as they seen the woman.

A woman has been left badly shaken after her car was hijacked by two men in west Belfast on Sunday. The woman, who is in her 20s, was returning to her vehicle on the Upper Springfield Road at around 7.45pm when two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife, pulled up in an old style Renault car and threatened her.
